AFTER NINE WEEKS.....

THE THEME OF THE LECTURE FOR THE WEEK NINE WAS EVALUATION.THIS IS CONCERNED WITH THE GATHERING OF DATA AND THIS IS DONE WITHIN A SPECIFIED ENVIRONMENT OR WORK CONTEXT.EVALUATION IS USEFUL IN ;

IN THE REAL WORLD BEFORE THE PROCESS OF DESIGNING, WE SHOULD ALWAYS UNDERSTAND WHAT THE USER WANTS.WE SHOULD ALWAYS KEEP IN OUR MINDS THAT THE DESIGNER IS NOT A USER. IT IS ALWAYS VITAL TO THINK ABOUT THE PROBLEMS THAT THE USER WILL EXPERIENCE,THE TASKS THAT THE USER IS GOING TO PERFORM AND HOW THEY ARE GOING TO DO THAT.

THEN WHEN COMPARING THE DESIGNS WITH ONE ANOTHER THERE IS ALWAYS A COMMERCIAL COMPETITION BETWEEN THE DESIGNS TO FIND OUT WHAT IS THE BEST DESIGN AND WHAT DO WE MEAN BY BEST IS THAT THE DESIGN SHOULD BE FAST,PLEASANT AND MOST RELATIVE.

IN ENGINEERING TOWARDS A TARGET WE SHOULD ALWAYS AIM FOR A SPECIFIC PERFORMANCE OR MEASUREMENTS AND THE EXISTING ARES OF THE DESIGN WHICH THE USER DID NOT LIKE CAN BE IMPROVED AS A RESULT OF THIS.

NO MORE MACROMEDIA FLASH

"FROM TODAY ONWARDS THE LECTURES ARE NO MORE ABOUT MACROMEDIA FLASH".THIS WAS WHAT THE LECTURER SAID AT THE VERY BEGINNING OF THE LECTURER IN THE 6TH WEEK.TO BE HONEST,THE FIRST THING THAT CAME TO MY MIND AFTER SHE SAID THAT WAS,"THANK GOD". I THINK I GOT RID OF THAT.

THE THEME FOR THE LECTURE IN THE WEEK SIX WAS,"ACCESSIBILITY AND DESIGN".THOUGH THE LECTURER SAID THAT IT IS NOT GOING TO BE ABOUT MACROMEDIA ANY MORE,AS SOON AS I SAW THE WORD "DESIGN" IN THE THEME I THOUGHT THAT SHE MADE A MISTAKE AT THE BEGINNING.THEN THE LECTURE WAS STARTED.THE FIRST SLIDE WAS ABOUT "DISABILITY".THERE WERE DESCRIPTIONS ABOUT DIFFERENT TYPES OF DISABILITIES SUCH AS DISABILITY IN VISION,HEARING AND TALKING.NEXT THE LECTURER SAID ABOUT DISCRIMINATION ACT AND ALSO MENTIONED THAT THERE ARE SOME WEB SITES THAT THE PEOPLE WITH CERTAIN DISABILITY CANNOT ACCESS THROUGH.THIS WAS A FIELD WHICH HAVE NEVER THOUGHT ABOUT IN MY LIFE.SO I FOUND THE LECTURE MUCH MORE INTERESTING THAN THE PREVIOUS LECTURES WHICH I HAD UP TO NOW.

FURTHER MORE, THE NEXT SLIDES WERE ABOUT SOME BASIC GUIDELINES FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF WEB SITES WHERE THOSE PEOPLE WHO ARE SUFFERING FROM THE ABOVE MENTIONED DISABILITIES COULD ALSO CAN ACCESS.SOME OF THESE RULES WERE;

DAY-5 IN MACROMEDIA FLASH

TODAY WAS THE FIFTH DAY OF MY LECTURE IN MACROMEDIA FLASH.UPTO NOW I ENJOYED MY LECTURES BUT HONESTLY NOT THE PRACTICAL SESSIONS BUT ANY WAY SO FAR SO GOOD.

THE THEME FOR THE LECTURE TODAY WAS "HCI".THE LETTERS HCI STANDS FOR "HUMAN COMPUTER INTERACTION".THIS WAS ALL ABOUT HUMAN COMPUTER INTERPHASES WHICH MEANS MORE SIMPLY HOW THE HUMAN COMMUNICATES WITH THE COMPUTER.ACCORDING TO THE LECTURER,IN AMERICA THIS IS WELL KNOWN AS "CHI" IT SEEMS.HOW EVER THOUGH THAY HAVE JUST CHANGED THE ORDER OF THE TWO WORDS THE MEANING IS THE SAME.SO,IN THE LECTURE THE LECTURER MENTIONED ABOUT SOME OF THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF INTERPHASES SUCH AS "GNOME,MAC & WINDOWS".BUT OUT OF ALL THESE THREE INTERPHASES I HAVE USED ONLY THE INTERPHASE "WINDOWS".THEREFORE I CANT COMPARE WINDOWS WITH ANY OTHER INTERPHASE, HENCE IF SOMEBODY ASKS ME WHAT MY IDEA ABOUT WINDOWS,THEN MOST PROBABLY MY ANSWER WOULD BE IT IS A USER FRIENDLY INTERPHASE.IT IS VERY EASY TO HANDLE ONCE U GET USED TO WINDOWS.

FURTHER IN THE LECTURE THE LECTURER MENTIONED ABOUT THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF MENUS THAT WE COME TO KNOW DAY TO DAY IN OUR LIVES WIH THE COMPUTERS.SOME OF THE EXAMPLES THAT WAS MENTIONED IN THE LECTURE WERE:

BEFORE ATTENDING THE LECTURE I KNEW ONL ABOUT THE FIXED MENU AND AFTER THE LECTURE ONY I GOT TO KNOW ABOT THE OTHER TYPES OF MENUS.NOW LET ME TELL YOU WHAT THESE MENUS ARE.FIXED MENU IS A MENU THAT LINKS THE MAIN OR THE HOME PAGE TO THE OTHER PAGES THAT ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THE HOME PAGE.PULL DOWN MENU IS THE MENU THAT APPEARS ON THE TOP OF THE PAGE AND THIS HAS TABS SUCH AS FILE,EDIT AND VIEW ETC.THEN THE POP UP MENU IS THE ONE THAT APPEARS WHEN YOU RIGHT CLICK THE MOUSE AND THE CASCADING MENU IS THE ONE THAT TAKES YOU TO OTHER PAGES BUT ULTIMATELY RETURNS TO THE HOME PAGE.SHE ALSO SAID ABOUT THE WEBPAGES THAT SUCK AND THE ACTUAL FACT IS THAT THEY REALLY DO SUCK AND THEY ARE NOT AT ALL UP TO THE STANDARD.

THIS WEEK AT THE END OF THE LECTURE,THE LECTURER SHOWED US A WEB SITE AND IT WAS BASED UPON COLOUR BLINDNESS.THERE WAS A TEST IN THAT NAMED "ISHIHARA TEST" AND THERE WERE SOME NUMBERS WRITTEN AND ACCORDING TO THIS TEST THOSE WHO ARE UNABLE TO READ THOSE NUMBERS PROPERLY ARE SUFFERING FROM COLOUR BLINDESS.WHEN I CAME TO MY ROOM AFTER THE LECTURE I TRIED THE TEST AND LUCKY ME I WAS ABLE TO READ ALL OF THEM CORRECTLY.WHAT A SUPRISE,NOW YOU CAN SEE ON LINE WHETHER YOU ARE COLOUR BLIND.........................

THIS WEEK'S PRACTICAL SESSION WAS NAMED AS "TWEEN IN TWEEN ".THAT WAS NOT MUCH DIFFICULT AND FOR THE FIRST TIME I WAS ABLE TO FINISH THAT DURING THE SESSION IT SELF.I FELT SO HAPPY FOR THAT AND NOW I THINK THAT I HAVE GOT IT.AT LAST!!!

IT IS ALMOST ONE MONTH OVER AFTER STARTING THE UNIVERSITY.HOW FAST THE TIME GOES...............I CANT IMAGINE THAT I SPENT FOUR WEEKS IN THE UNIVERSITY AWAY FROM MY PARENTS AND MY COUNTRY.

ANY WAY TODAY WAS THE FOURTH LECTURE OF THE MACROMEDIA FLASH LESSON.TODAY THE THEME OF THE LECTURE WAS MULTIMEDIA DESIGN TECHNIQUES.IN THIS LECTURE,THE LECTURER SHOWED US SOME POWER POINT SLIDES ON DIFFERENT TECHNIQUES USED IN MACROMEDIA FLASH.

THE PRESENTATION COVERED ABOUT THE TECHNIQUES SUCH AS TEXTS,FORMATS AND THE OTHER METHODS BY WHICH YOU CAN CRAEATE THESE FLASH ITEMS.FOR ME,SIMPLY THIS LECTURE WAS NOT THAT INTERESTING EITHER.MAY BE BECAUSE I AM ALWAYS EAGER TO WATCH ONLY THE MOVIE CLIP AT THE END OF THE LECTURE.HOWEVER THE LECTURER SHOWED US SOME EXAMPLES OF THE MOTION EFFECTS THAT THE WEB SITES CONTAIN AND THAT PART WAS QUITE INTERESTING FOR ME.I ALWAYS PREFER TO HAVE A LOOK AT THE LINKS THAT ARE ON THE POWER POINT SLIDES RATHER THAN LISTENING TO THE LECTURE OR ELSE READING WHAT IS THERE ON THE POWER POINT SLIDE.

THE MACROMEDIA FLASH CLIP THAT THE LECTURER SHOWED US THIS WEEK WAS ABOUT DARIO PIANA.THIS CONTAINS MANY VIDEO CLIPS AND THERE WERE FEW LINKS IN THE FRONT PAGE .SOME OF THESE LINKS WERE WHOIS,REELS AND ART WORKS.ALL THESE LINKS ARE LINKED TO VARIOUS OTHER PAGES AND USING THOSE LINKS YOU CAN VIEW SHORT VIDEOS AND CLIPS.THE LAY OUT OF THE MAIN PAGE WAS QUITE DIFFERENT FROM THE LAY OUT OF THE USUAL WEB SITES.I LIKED THIS ALOT.

NOW LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE PRACTICAL SESSION OF THIS WEEK.THE THEME FOR THE PRACTICAL SESSION OF THIS WEEK WAS ABOUT SHAPE TWEEN.HERE WE DID HOW TO CHANGE A PARTICULAR WORD IN TO ANOTHER WORD WITHOUT CHANGING THE POSITIONS AND THE MODEL OF THE REST OF THE WORDS.FOR EXAMPLE WHAT WE DID WAS FIRST WE CREATED THE PHRASE PAGE ONE IN THE MAIN STAGE OF A NEW FLASH DOCUMENT.THEN WE INSERTED A NEW A KEY FRAME AND THEN CREATED AND PAGE TWO.THEN WE CREATED MOTION TWEEN BETWEEN THE GAP OF THE TWO BLACK DOTS.THEN BY USING THE SHAPE TWEEN METHOD WE CHANGED THE PAGE THE WORD ONE TO PAGE TWO.HERE THE WORD PAGE WAS KEPT WITH OUT ANY CHANGE AND THE WORD ONE WAS MADE TO DISAPPEAR WITH A DISSOLVING TYPE OF EFFECT SO THAT ULTIMATELY THE WORD TWO WAS ON THE SCREEN.EVEN IN THIS PRACTICAL SESSION I WAS NOT ABLE TO FINISH UP MY WORK WITHIN THE GIVEN ONE HOUR.BUT THIS TIME WHEN I WAS WALKING OUT OF TH LAB I STRONGLY MADE A DECISION TO PRACTISE ALL WHAT I HAVE DONE UP TO NOW DURING THE WEEK END.

THE THIRD WEEK IN MACROMEDIA FLASH

HI,THIS IS ABOUT MY THIRD LECTURE AND THE PRACTICAL SESSION.THE THEME OF THE THIRD LECTURE WAS MULTIMEDIA ASSETS.THE THIRD LECTURE WAS ALL ABOUT THE KINDS OF THE FILES THAT WE DEAL WITH IN OUR DAY TO DAY LIFE WHEN WE USE THE COMPUTERS.HERE THE LECTURER MENTIONED FEW NAMES OF THE FILE FORMATS SUCH AS JPEG,TEXT,HTML AND MP3.THE LECTURER TAUGHT US HOW TO VIEW THE DETAILS OF A GIVEN PARTICULAR FILE.BY THAT WE CAN FIND OUT WHAT SORT OF A FILE THAT IS. THIS WAS WHAT I KNEW ALREADY THEREFORE THE LECTURE WAS NOT VERY INTERESTING FOR ME. GENERALLY LECTURE WAS FINE BUT FROM THE BEGINNING OF THE LECTURE I WAS WAITING UNTIL IT COMES TO THE LATTER PART OF THE LECTURE.THE MAIN REASON WAS THAT I LOVE TO WATCH THE MACROMEDIA FLASH SLIDES.THOUGH I SEARCHED THE INTERNET TO FIND SOME WONDERFUL SLIDES ON MACRO MEDIA FLASH WITHIN THE LAST WEEK I COULD NOT FIND ANY.THEREFORE I ALWAYS WAIT UNTIL IT BECOMES THURSDAY SO THAT I GET TO SEE THESE SLIDES.

THE MACROMEDIA FLASH CLIP THAT THE LECTURER SHOWED US DURING THE THIRD LECTURE WAS CALLED WEDDING CRASHES.THIS WAS MORE INTERESTING FOR ME AND I LIKE IT MORE THAN THE FROGUTS.I THINK THIS IS THE BEST MACROMEDIA FLASH CLIP THAT I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY WHOLE LIFE.THIS WAS REALLY FUNNY.HERE WE SHOULD CREATE THE FACE OF A HUMAN AS WE WANT.WE HAVE TO ADD A FACE OF A HUMAN AND THEN ONLY WE CAN DEVELOP THE IMAGE BY CHOOSING HAIR AND THEN WE CAN ADJUST THE FACE SO THAT THE HAIR SUITS WELL TO THE PICTURE THAT WE HAVE SELECTED ALREADY.THE ORIGINAL CLIP HAS ITS OWN CHARACTERS AND WE SELECT THE CHARACTER AS WE WANT.THEN AT THE END THE IMAGE IN THE ORIGINAL CLIP WAS DISPLACED BY THE IMAGE THAT WE DEVELOPED.NEXT THE CLIP RUNS AUTOMATICALLY WITH THE IMAGE THAT WE DEVELOPED.THIS WAS THE MOST INTERESTING PART OF THE CLIP.I ENJOYED THAT ALOT.

NOW LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT THE PRACTICAL SESSION OF THIS WEEK. THOUGH I THOUGHT THAT I WILL PRACTISE HOW TO CREATE SIMPLE LINKS DURING THE WEEKEND, BECAUSE I COULD NOT COMPLETE THAT DURING MY PRACTICAL SESSION OF THE SECOND WEEK,I COULD NOT MAKE IT. I WENT FOR THE PRACTICAL SESSION OF THE THIRD WEEK STRAIGHT AWAY WITHOUT COMPLETING THE WORK THAT WE DID DURING THE SECOND WEEK.THE THEME FOR THIS PRACTICAL SESSION WAS ANIMATION TWEENING.HERE WE WERE SUPPOSED TO GIVE THE EFFECT OF MOTION AND ROTATION TO A PARTICULAR TEXT.THIS LOOKED PRETTY INTERESTING BUT I COULD NOT ACHIEVE THAT THIS WEEK TOO.AT THE END OF THE PRACTICAL SESSION OF THIS WEEK TOO, I THOUGHT THAT I WILL DO BOTH THE LESSONS THAT I MISSED DURING THE WEEKEND. THE ANIMATION TWEENING BECAME TOUGH FOR ME I THINK BECAUSE I WAS NOT FAMILIAR WITH CREATING THE SIMPLE LINKS.
